Four football players have been suspended for an alleged hazing incident that reportedly left redshirt freshman walk-on wide receiver Jackson Boyer with a concussion.

North Carolina football coach Larry Fedora announced Thursday after the team's practice that Donnie Miles, Des Lawrence, Brian Walker and M.J. Stewart will all be suspended for one game — the Liberty game that UNC opens its season with Saturday.

"We hold our players accountable for their actions at all times,” Fedora said in a statement. "These players did not meet the high expectations we have for them as members of our program and have been disciplined accordingly. They will not play on Saturday or be on the sideline with their teammates."

Fedora called it a violation of team policy, and the investigation is still ongoing by the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs' office.

Lawrence and Walker are both sophomores and are the team's two starting corners. Stewart is a freshman and is a backup corner, while Miles is third on the depth chart at the Ram position.

The event allegedly happened at the beginning of August, according to Yahoo's initial report. The incident was not confirmed until Tuesday.
